# King Parrot (female)

I watched a critique of a lovely drawing (episode 256) and thought I would have a go at something similar. This is based on a photo that I took in the tree on the front of my block. I used Derwent Watercolour Pencils on the bird even though I would have preferred to use the tube colours. The sky background is, of course, a wash of phthalo blue (administered 3 times!). The paper is 140gsm Reeves - not the best choice, in hindsight, as it is not absorbent enough. I am disappointed with the lack of sheen on the completed work - is there a solution?
