@robichon I watched the series. I got the pens and tried them out as well, but they are not my favourite. I enjoy the tactile feeling of drawing with my fountain pens and dip pens. I got a couple of refillable technical pens as well, when i want a more precise, controlled line.

That’s good to know! I haven’t tried this paper yet but I see a lot of people online use it with oil pastels as well. Might have to order a pad and check for myself!

Hi Terri - I am curious to know how you like it, once you have tried it. I did the whole course on this sand grain paper. A bit different from regular, more textured than pastelmat but it is sort of similar.

Day one of my most ambitious project yet! I have done so many texture studies for this. I am using graphite, ink and Conte á Paris’s Pierre noire charcoal pencils.

Hi Terri,
The paper is Daler Rowney Heavy weight smooth: 220gms/135Lb, standard A3/11,7x16,5 inches. Thereference is just one I came accidently found on Pixabay while looking for a Collie dog to practise some fluffy fur. I do however think this image is religious in nature. The love and warmth in this image is tangible. The way they are composed, turned in on them selves, combined with the light, it reminds me of pietà-scenes, with the obvious difference that the dog isn’t dead. But I see a resemblences between the old man holding/hugging his Alaskan Malamute and The Madonna holding Christ. I love it so much I printed it in poster size on premium photo paper - to hang on the wall.

This has a huge project in the making. This is my largest piece yet, it’s a 30in x 22in mixed-media drawing created on Arches 140 pound cold press watercolor paper of Big Thunder Mountain at Walt Disney World. The mediums chosen are Derwent Inktense pencils and Acrylic paint. It’s still a work in progress, but I thought it was completed enough to share. “Hang on to those hats and glasses, best remove them, because this here is the Wildest Ride In The Wilderness.”

I was encouraged by Terri @robichon to return to this piece and fill in the tooth of the paper across the painting. So I did and thought I would share it as a final effort. It is mixed media, with the sailboat in colored pencil and the background, sky, and water in oil pastels. My wife and I love sailing the Puget Sound in WA, and this is from a picture I took on a recent trip. I am grateful for the suggestion, Terri, and in my mind it is better for the effort. Cheers.

I have worked a bit more on the dark areas today, and then sent it in. I have never tried sending in something before - so now I will wait and see if it gets picked.
