How do you get the shadows do much lighter do you blend with anything?

Which part of this drawing are you talking about by “get the shadows do much lighter”?
I was referring to the light areas like the sidewalk etc .
Wonder if it’s just lighter pressure with your hand or some other method with ink?

Thank you for your respond! I don’t use any particular techniques or gadgets for the lighter parts. Like you say, the lighter pressure or fewer marks make the values lighter. I usually draw with lines, but I think dots also work well when you want to express light values.
Here is a good example. I drew the surface of the lemon with dots mainly because I wanted the lemon-like texture, but this choice also helped to achieve the lighter value.
