I’m in two minds…whether I should increase the marks or decrease the marks and make it simpler? Or is it just appropriate??

I think it is fine the way it is. Maybe some more marks on the left side around the neck. Otherwise. It is fine to me.

Looks really nice Maki! Difficult to say without seeing the picture, but maybe some darker values in the ears and the chest/ neck to define the fact that his chin is forward of these parts? Great eyes! Reminds me of Puss in boots from Shrek!
