Attempting painting with watercolors

Hello,

I have been attempting to work with watercolors, Here are a few attempts I have done..

Most are from Pixabay. Some are mixed media the newest ones are seascapes, one with Inktense pan pastels and some heavy pigmented watercolors in Japanese colors.

I would appreciate any advice on improving. I know many of you are experienced with watercolors.

Thanks for taking a look,

Teri (with 1r)

This one is from Schelles Africa using Inktense pan watercolors

This is from Ghana Africa This one is using Japanese heavily pigment watercolors with colors used in Japanese watercolor art.

These first two are part of a project to improve graphite and improve in different mediums. It has been really helpful project.

The rest are just random efforts to learn watercolor painting with references from Pixabay, as well as my imagination
Watercolor no reference, from my imagination

The zebra is with watercolor pencils.

The last are a couple of cards using watercolor backgrounds and ink.

Hi Teri W1r @TLP

Watercolour I find really hard to work with. The paintings you have done are impressive. Love the fruit watercolour and the landscapes are great especially the first one. I’m assuming their is more control when using watercolour pencils, I haven’t used these yet and only roughly had a quick practice with watercolour paint which didn’t turn out great. Having no real experience of using watercolour I’m not qualified to give any advice… but I will say I think you have done a great job so far.

Hi Teri with 1r @TLP

OMG have you ever been busy. These are all wonderful, but I gotta say I LOVE that ZEBRA.

Hello Sue,

Thank you for your kind words. i too find watercolors difficult so when not feeling well (Lyme Disease) I find playing with colors is relaxing, especially when no pressure from a reference.

I find that having no plan and playing with the watercolors has taken the pressure of creating an actual painting and has been a good way to learn.

Hope you keep working with watercolors!

Hello Terri with 2r’s,

When feeling miserable I find just messing around with watercolors relaxing.

Like I mentioned to Sue, no plan no loss creates a lot of practice, especially when to tired to work on something planned out.

Your opinion always helps me go forward. Thank you.

Hello Sonia,

Thank you for your encouragement. Why does a medium that is so enjoyable have to be so difficult.

Your optimistic encouragement is always so inspiring. Thank you,
