So nice to be back! I am glad Matt and Ashley take time to refresh- but I’m happy to have them back for GSL. This one was fun. I tried to stay loose but got tight as usual and lost under the belly because I didn’t get the top line quite right. He’s a wolf-bear! Share those drawings- let’s see! Any suggestions how to fix that halo around the edges?.
This is fantastic! Wonderful work of art
Love this! I have yet to try but sure hope to this week
I misse
Hello all, I missed Gettin’ Sketchy last week for some reason? I’m Kind of confused as to if the next one will be today Wednesday, or Thursday? If anyone knows please let me know. Thanks Ron
Thursday night- 6:30!
I don’t remember seeing your wolf’s post before now as I was searching for a thread for this particular gettin’ sketchy one.
I have to say your wolf is a very good looking happy one!
I finally did mine tonight within the allotted time and lots of interruptions counting every pause of the video it took good four hours ![]()
My wolf is on a scrap of hahnemule velour black paper with mungyo soft pastels and a couple of pastel pencils. I will call mine “squinty” lol
All this to say, I muddied it some but rescued it enough to be able to show it here
Hi Sonia @Meme5 - I think it looks pretty good, especially when you try to limit the amount of time you spend on it. Thanks for sharing. I always love to see what you’re working on.

Sonia, @Meme5 I love your curious wolf! He looks very interested in something. Lovely color and you’ve captured his soft fur so well
Sonia and Harleysmom, I really like the uniqueness of both of your renderings of “wolf” as always well done and inspiring how you both find time to finish all of the getting sketchy artworks.

Hi all - wanted to share my attempt at the white wolf! On black paper using 3 brands of oil pastel. For the first several layers, I used cray pas expressionist and a dry brush to scrub pigment into the paper. Then came back with some linseed oil and Mungyo soft, finally a bit of Sennelier.
Hi Jeff @KravenTheBlack
I’m still pretty new with oil pastels and am so glad you shared this with a description of your process. Thanks and please keep posting your work.
Terri
Thanks so much @robichon! What do you enjoy most about using oil pastels?
Hi Jeff @KravenTheBlack
The thing I like best about oil pastels is that I’m figuring out how to use a media that I’ve often said is like drawing with a tube of lipstick. I’m into detail and so far I’ve been able to achieve that. But I’ve only done 5x 7 drawings so far.
Now I look forward to using them (instead of dreading the experience).
Terri
