Pyrography (wood burning)

Hi everyone.
Does any of you pyrography (or wood burning)? I know Matt does not teach it on the virtual instructor, but I think it’s an interesting topic and I want to share it anyway to see what you all create.
I’m fairly new to the medium, but I enjoy it so much. The artwork you see in the photo is my most recent work. It’s the dog of friends of ours, it was a gift earlier this month for their 12,5 wedding anniversary. I burned it on oak with my Razertip SS-d10. It’s not the most easiest woods out there for pyrography, and I’ll never burn on it again, but it turned out pretty well. The only thing is, you see a bit of the wood grain through it. Most of the time I burn animal portraits, but I’m planning on doing something else soon. I have a copyright free reference photo of a cat in an old window with lot’s of chipped and weathered wood and I think that’s interesting to burn as well.
Please show me your pyrography work as well if you have it.

Hi! I do not do pyrography (at the moment, I do mostly soft pastels). I love this portrait. It’s quite beautiful. I don’t think that the wood grain detracts from it at all. It give it a wonderful texture. Thanks for sharing this.
Patricia.

WOW! I am blown away. I know absolutely nothing about pyrography but I do like the wood grain showing thru. Can’t wait to see more from you.

Nicely done, but sorry to say I don’t share your skill with this media. Keep posting because it’s fun to see all things artistic.
