A mouse with a balloon with line and wash

I painted this mouse on 10x15cm with 003 UniPin fineliner and Winsor and Newton Cotman watercolor on Canson Montvalle 300gsm coldpressed watercolor paper, and framed it for a gift.

If you want to see how I did this, you can watch the video here: https://youtu.be/9aMEPmhWnmc

You did a really good job, the line and wash has an illustrated quality to it, it reminds me a lot of the illustrations of Peter Rabbit. The frame is really sweet too.

I agree Emily, I do have a soft spot for line and wash, the painting has Peter Rabbit kind of look to it.

Thank you so much! That’s a huge compliment!

Thank you so much! That means a lot to me. This was a gift for a young child, and last week there’s another baby been born. I have an illustration in mind with a similar look. Hopefully I can pull it off.

He/She is adorable/ i really like how your artwork is framed.

Thanks Teri! It was indeed a gift for a baby. I gave it to the mom, and she said…. ‘Oh what a nice picture frame! I’m gonna put a new photo of my son in it.’

NO! She must not have known that you painted it! You need a big label on the back with “handpainted by Appelmoes for baby. “ I guess you would use your real name, as she might think the appelmoes (yum) is your medium!

@4Margaret and @Appelmoes I agree with Margaret that she should know that it is your original Artwork.
