Acrylic paint on canvas material

I was asked if a water based paint could be used to paint on a canvas purse. I have no idea if this is possible, so I thought I would ask here. Is this possible, if not, what is best paint for this? Any help would be appreciated.

I believe that you can find acrylic paint mediums to use for fabrics. I have never used them, but you can look at art supply stores for them.

You might be better off using an Opaque paint. This will take to the surface much better.
