I tried another robin drawing, would love some constructive critiques!
Hello Jay,
You did a wonderful job on this robin. The feathers look soft and natural. You should feel content with how this turned o. Practicing is always the best way to learn.
Keep going. How are the graphite drawings going?

Thanks Teri.
I’ve found the graphite drawings quite difficult, I think freehand drawing in general is something I really struggle with getting good. I’ve also been trying the pen & ink courses and have been trying some of the subjects in pen & ink.
jay,
The Subjects in pen and ink is one of my favorite courses and now ink is one of my favorite mediums to work in. I posted one recently titled Vender in Madagascar and it is do in stippling, with colored inks. i prefer stippling over other ink techniques.
I find the drawing, if you just think about shapes and values it helps. Don’t think of the whole picture, but of small sections you are working on.
This has really helped me.
I don’t know if you have seen any of the live lessons but there is always something to learn, a very friendly group, and you can ask Matt questions real time. His friend Ashley also.
Watching them work in real time, no matter what medium teaches the elements or art.
My favorite is the critique. This is something I never miss and is really a valuable teaching tool. I have learned the most through the repetition with different artwork. It is reinforcing and very educational.
Teri
