Can I use NeoColour II for the courses with oilspastels?

Hi - Newbie here. I have been looking over some of the courses and checking out the materials to see what new and exciting materials I have to buy. I see many classes that uses oil pastels - now I have a full set of Caran d’ache NeoColour 2 - the water soluable kind - can I use them in stead of the oil pastels?

Thanks for all responeses in advance.

Hello Sys,

I do believe that you can use any medium with any course.

If you are a newbie you may want to start with 25 days to better drawing. This teaches all the basic principles and from graphite drawing you can get an idea what medium will best work for you.

If you have NeoColour’s , as I am not familiar with them, and they are waxing and loose enough to appear like the oil pastels, then I would think they would work the same way.

i just looked them up and I think that they would work well. I hope you post your finish product. If you do start the course you can ask Matt in the comments below the lesson and Hhe can let you know better.

If you go to the live class on Thursday’s now but generally Wednesday’s at 8 pm you can ask him in real time.

I hope this helps you as it is a little bit of a late response.

I would enjoy seeing your progress if you want to share.

Welcome Sys @siffermus to the forum.

Unfortunately I am not very knowledgeable about oil pastels, so can’t answer your specific question. However wanted to let you know we’re happy to have you here and hope to see your artwork posted here as well.

Hello Sys @siffermus

I went to the Caran d’Ache oficial website and this is what I found. There’s a link to their site and a screenshot. I hope it helps. I had a mid size set of those but my son borrowed them, this to say that I would use them in oil pastels applications
