I’ve never been able to embrace charcoal as I find it too messy but today I’m determined to get past the mess and learn something about this lovely medium
Lesson 3 the landscape I found this really interesting as I’ve never really explored charcoal till now
I’m learning a lot
Hello Chellesky’s
Wow! For someone who has not embraced charcoal before you are doing wonderful with this medium.
I do hope that you keep posting your progress. If you are a member the series of classes now at 8pmEST is a trumpet in charcoal and in the vault of the hundreds of courses and classes on charcoal lessons.
Welcome to the Virtual Instructor. I don’t get on here often but will be watching to see more of your artwork.
Again welcome!

I really like this one because the contrast is beautiful here. You can almost touch the trunk of the tree. Good job. ![]()
Thank you so much for your kind encouragement I do appreciate it ![]()
Aww thank you I thought I’d kinda rushed it compared to Matts but overall I was pleased with my effort ![]()
chellesky - Wonderful job on the portrait. I have learned so much from Matt with his portraits in many courses and live classes.

Wow this is nice. What I like about it is the beard it is almost like you can feel and touch the bristle touch and the wrinkles you can see it is an old man.
Thank you so much @pog078 ![]()
Hello Chellesky,
wonderful portrait. IU wanted to let you know that Matt critiqued your cow. She/he is quite pensive, Lovely scarf. I just wanted to let you know about the critique and never tire seeing your artwork.

Awww thank you so much @TLP
I’m away to view it how exciting ![]()
No problem. What has been the most challenging part of drawing for you so far?
I’m finding slowing down difficult I seem to just go full steam ahead and miss the deeper forms and values @pog078
Though I’m very happy with what I’m learning from these courses
In time I know I’ll improve ![]()
