Hi there 08132559 - welcome. How DO you get such a fine result with pastels? I am clumsy and messy with them and so barely give them a run. Diggory’s portrait is stunning.

Hi Marrhys, I use mainly pastel pencils to create my pictures. I would love to be able to use the softer pastel chalk but, have problems with breathing the dust and smudging, there’s a great deal more colours to choose from. I find I can create more detail in my work with the pastel pencils more like graphite drawing. Everyone to there own personal choice though. A good paper also helps to draw on, try Clairefontaine Pastel mat, that’s what I normally use. Deb

This is a painting for which you should be very proud. Although new to this art community, I paint animals (almost exclusively) and this is one of the nicest dog portraits I have seen. Well done.

How to use your non-dominant hand and using a grid to enlarge a picture. I don’t know if you use your non-dominant had or not, but my question is how to use a grid to enlarge a picture, I think I know how to do it when you want to make the same size to do it with a grid, Lenora
You would be in hysterics if I tried to use my non dominant hand. Nothing would be very recognisable. I’ve replied re. the grid on your own page. Deb
