I found Matt and this Forum through a YouTube search. I have always enjoyed being creative (sewing, making clothes, knitting, spinning wool, baking, bread making… ) but had never considered art. I have a dog who is 17 and no longer goes on long walks, so I was looking for something to get me out and about. I therefore planned on becoming an Urban Sketcher. I felt sure I would just stick to buildings/street scenes and graphite pencils, but once I started I couldn’t stop! I now have coloured pencils, watercolour pencils, watercolours and watercolour pens. I am loving every aspect of the courses. Having sampled a huge amount of info on line I feel Matt is just pure genius - an extremely good artist, who knows how to teach! A rare find!
Welcome @soozern
So nice to have you here on the forum. I’ve been a member since Oct 2021 and feel the same way about the quality of Matt’s teaching. Please post photos of your artwork from time to time, and comment on posts made by others. You will probably make a couple friends here that way.
Also, be sure to check out the Members Minute, the weekly critique that Matt does for a piece of artwork that a member has submitted. And maybe send some of your own original work to him to evaluate as well. It’s one of my favorite member benefits and you can learn a ton from all the critiques, even if not your own, and even if not one of your usual media.

Welcome to the Virtual Instructor community. Before I became housebound I did many of the same activities as you did, only here in the US.
It is so nice to have a new friend to join us. Urban Sketching sounds wonderful. I do hope that you will share your work with us. Matt has many courses and classes that could give you skills that could help with urban sketching.
Also his weekly critique. I have not missed one yet. This is a really great place to learn how to improve art. The repetition and learn form each other is really encouraging.
I hope to see you at a live class, either Mondays with Matt at 12pm EST or Wednesdays for the Live class at 8pm EST. They are both really fun! I go by Artsycrochet (Artsy,
