Isn’t it ridiculous that one teacher has the ability to destroy our confidence because they decide that we are no good at something!!! It has happened to many of us. I’m happy that you decided to move ahead. I used to always envy other people who could draw, until I realized that I had never really tried to learn how. Once I retired, I joined VI and found out that I could draw - I just needed someone like Matt (and Ashley now) to get me going. I have not doubt that you will enjoy your membership. Welcome aboard!

I’m trying not to ‘over-think’ Something I will need to work on. I’m the ‘baby’ in our family and my sisters would tell me that I was ‘adopted’. But I look too much like them, now so I tell them I am the ‘real’ sister.

Hello Matt, Ashley and everyone here.
I am with the Virtual Instructor for 3 months and only now discovered this forum. I am currently trying to complete the “25 days to better drawings” course and I love it. I also enjoy watercolour and watercolour pencils and am looking forward to trying the watercolour course :).
Getting sketchy is a delight to watch

My name is Kathleen and I have user name kwwtexas. I retired 3 years ago and have been painting and crafting like crazy ever since.
I have found being part of a artist community is essential to having a successful career as a Artis. I joined the local art league 3 years ago and I am so glad I did. We had no gallery at that time but as of last year, we finally were able to get a gallery, located in a popular mall. Every artists in town wants to hang work in our gallery but I am there because I was a member of the league.
I tell people that I am not a young Person but I am a young Artist. Developing and exploring.
I hope we can all help each other, both young and old artist , to continue to develop and explore the talents we each have.

Thank you! Adjusting my mindset has been challenging, but I find myself wanting to dive deeper into my art. I love your username, by the way! I began dipping my toes back into the creative world by creating religious digital art. My husband strongly encouraged me to get back into drawing and painting too. I forgot how familiar and relaxing it can be. I want to bring attention to Christ through my artwork. God bless you and have a fantastic day!

My name is Calsanne. I joined this community because I want to improve my pen and ink skills. I’ve drawn with graphite for years and was looking to try a new skill which didn’t have a lot pieces and parts.
The first class I watched was The Lizard Man exercise. I’ve learned so much in just one project. I’m having so much fun. I do find managing the light in my picture is my biggest challenge. Followed in by close second of rushing and putting too many lines down.
I look forward to learning more and having fun too.
The picture is my attempt at the exercise so far. I think it looks like a lizard lol. Not sure his suit looks like a suit though lol

What medias do ou enjoy using most. Personally, I am just learning but I enjoy all the different mediums and their different effects and ways of working.
