Hi, my name is Brett and I have been a member now for a few months. It had been 40 years since I last put any medium to paper to create art.

With my recent retirement I decided to finally exercise these muscles which have been dormant for so long.

First I want to say how impressed I am with all the wonderful artwork I have seen on this forum. Really beautiful.

Second I want to say how impressed I am with Matt and Ashley and the wonderful classes that are available on the site. In just a short time I feel I have learned so much. And I have been enjoying myself immensely.

So thank you everyone for sharing and providing me with much needed inspiration.

See you around.

Hello. My name is Kathy and I live in the UK, very close to Liverpool. My art is pretty much self taught until I came across Matt. The tips that I have picked up are priceless and I feel more confident in pushing my art further

Hello Kathy,

Welcome! You will also find that Matt generates a friendly forum and the VI is a valuable place to learn. I to started self-taught and Matt and Ashley have helped me to improve and see things I never noticed before.

If you are a night owl, I hope you can join the live lesson sometime. A new one is starting tonight. Ashley will be leading this one. The chat is really fun!!

I look forward to seeing some of your artwork and again Welcome!

Hi Kathy, I’m just across the water from you in Dublin. I signed up in July and have learned so much. The live lessons are at a perfect pace. I never stay up late enough for a live lesson, I caught Getting Sketchy once while I was on holiday from work.

Good to hear from you. Thank you.
I’m afraid that I haven’t yet managed to figure out what time the live lessons are on here in the UK. Would love to be a part of it though

Good to hear from you

Hello everyone, my name is Janar and I decided to finally do something about my childhood dream (very much supressed by parents) to be better at art. I love pen and ink as well as colour pencils. I hope to learn a bunch here.

Kathy,

I believe that in Germany they are 6 hours ahead. I don’t know if that helps. They are all recorded and fun to watch but it is nice to participate. Have you seen any of the critiques? They are worth watching, I have nearly all of them and have learned so much. Weekly they reinforce that importance of composition, value, color, etc. applied to different artwork and mediums.

Hello Janar,

Welcome to the Virtual Instructor family and community. You definitely picked the right place to start your journey.

There are quite a few pen and ink courses and recorded live lessons on the site. I know that since I joined, I have learned so much. From the courses, critiques, and live lessons as well as others here on the forum.

I look forward to seeing some of your masterpieces here on the forum. We are all at different levels and everyone is supportive and encouraging.

Again, welcome

Teri

They’re on really late. I think the one time I watch Getting Sketchy it either started or ended at 11:30pm. The live lesson starts about a half hour after. Way past my bed time.

Thank you for your kind welcome Teri.
Already having fun after Prismacolor discovery. Challenged myself with Three little birds drawings. Humming bird down

Still long way to go but I am ready.
