Stormy,

Yes he is. He has done three lessons and basically finished the head. Still a ways to go.

There is a thread her on the forum where some members have posted their progress. I am way behind myself, just have the drawing done. All in its perfect timing.

Teri

Hello Ruth,

Your painting is lovely. Thank you for sharing it with us.

That is BEAUTIFUL! :scream: Is that watercolor? The colors blend together so nicely, and the gazebo is crisp and defined! :star_struck:

Hi, @AlanMattinson ! Sounds like you’ve got a learning style that you like! Welcome to this forum, it’s very encouraging! Jesus loves you!!!

G’day @mnjdittmann1939 ! :australia: It’s so awesome that you’re sticking with pencil drawing and learning from it! I can’t wait to see your work, it sounds great and exciting! Jesus loves you!!!

I guess I better get busy so I can join everyone for the next lesson.
Thank you Teri for your helping me to try & catch up.
I’m not very good at drawing, so I will try to catch up so I can continue with the the next lesson.

Stormy,

I have not been doing real well so I have not been in the chat. I always watch and read the chat. Make sure to let them know that you are new. Many people follow along different ways. Some work alongside Matt and Ashley, some just watch and chat and work on their artwork later, and others watch the whole series and then go back and do it.

All the lessons are recorded there are too many to count. I’ve watched almost all of them and done many of the older lessons.

If I feel up to the chat I go by the name Artsycrochet. See you then!

Hi there @Artkingfisher , welcome! Origami?! That is so cool, and yes, it’s definitely an art, all those tiny folds are amazing! I hope you share some! Your new courses sound exciting too, I look forward to seeing your work! Jesus loves you!!!

Miss Teri,
I’m so sorry that you’re not feeling well.
I wish there was something I could do to help you smile & laugh.
I watched the 1st & 2nd live lessons on the Snow Dog.
I love the grid idea to help draw the picture, I would have never thought of that…
It sure makes it look easier to draw the snow dog.
I have 5 days to catch up, starting today.
I hope to see you at the live lesson.
Please feel better soon!

Hello Stormy,

You just made me smile when you mentioned the grid and catching up on the live lesson. I may not chat but will certainly log in to say hello to you!

There are some really good drawing courses. I went through all of them and the repetition really helped me to understand more each technique. There are also many graphite live lessons and critiques!

I hope you post your progress on the current live lesson of the snow dog. This is a kind and encouraging forum.

Teri,
I hope you’re feeling better & thank you for logging in to visit with me.

I used the grid & drew the Snow Dog.
I know I have numerous mistakes, but I’m hoping when we get to the watercolor portion of the show, it will help cover or fix some of my mistakes.
Good luck with

I’m planning to join the live lesson Wednesday night.
I hope to see you there.
Feel better soon!

Hello! I’m Patty and I am a neophyte so need a lot of instruction. I
am 81 yrs old, widowed and live in an assisted living facility. I was a registered nurse for many years. I always loved to paint ( oils) but never had any real training so am looking forward to gaining some new skills in drawing, painting and many other types of media. Love what I’ve seen so far.

Welcome @pattyjean
I also recently joined this community (a month ago) and I can assure you: everyone here is lovely and helpful and you can learn so much (even if you thought you knew the medium before)

I hope your experience here will be as positive as mine!
Happy painting (and Happy 2024)

Hello Pattyjean,

Welcome to the VI forum. It has been a wonderful place for me, 63 and disabled from Neurological Lyme Disease.

You will find everything you can imagine here. Matt and Ashley are wonderful teachers. If you joined the VI membership, you can start with the basic, drawing with a graphite pencil and sketchbook working up to the Oil Master Academy and many other art mediums. You have found the right place for learning.

The forum is a safe place to share artwork, get input if you want it, and just interact with people. The live lesson is the same, has a chat box and we are a fun and friendly bunch, i highly recommend looking at all the critiques, they are, in my opinion the best earning tools. They generally come out on Wednesday, sometimes Tuesday and all are accessible since 2015 when the website started.

Again, welcome and I hope this journey through art brings joy is it has me during this New Year 2024.

Hello
I am Kirsten, 60, early retired, widowed (15 years ago) and live in Northrhine Westfalia in Germany. During the past 20 years I frequently draw or painted (acrylic).
Now I have a bit more time and besides my other big hobbies (sewing and cooking) I want to dive in a third creative pool and improve my skills.
I would like to share some older drawings (graphite/pastel)s if you don´t mind… (I have to get into the details on this forum to find a better topic)

The Charly Chaplin one is pastels and not so easy to photograph as it is in a glass frame…

I used just graphite pencils and in some cases cheap marker in different grey tones…
