Line and wash - wash drops out of line

As the title says. I’m super new to watercolour and I’m trying some loose sketches.
The colour keeps running out of the ink lines.

Could this be the paper or an isdue with water control? I know many here are very good watercolour artists so I hope I can get some ideas how to do better

One tip I have found that really helps with watercolour is do a light coat of water first on the area you want to paint and then add the colour in gently… That way the colour won’t run out of the lines because the water acts as a Linda barrier. Also make sure you are on a flat surface as well

Too much water could be the problem. I had this problem also. It dilutes the color and makes it watery

Maybe you just had too much water loaded on your brush. If so, you can dab away some of the excess with a paper towel.
