Live Lesson - Pen & Ink Architecture

Hi @DaveK

The hard part is starting. so you’ll do fine now. The more you use those pens, the more you will like them. Thanks for working up the courage to play along with the rest of us. What you’ve done looks good.

Thank you for sharing this! I love seeing your progress, and knowing how long it took and how your perception of the media shifted once you dove in. Great job, cant wait to see more!

Looking great, @DaveK. Amazing details with the inicial drawing with a pencil. Looking forward for the next post.

Hi all,

Here is my progress from the previous week. I was in the mood for drawing, so I did it before the video was uploaded. Then I watched the video and learnt a bunch of things…

Wow, everyone is doing such wonderful work on the church project. I’ve put another 6 hours into the upper left hand tree. I’m having a hard time keeping shades consistent, but will be going back in to darken up some of the areas that need it. This is still a fun project even though 4-6 hours is about my limit on working the detail

Hi Dave.

Six hours was the most I could do in a day too. I also had to go back and darken some areas later when I had more done to compare. So you are doing great. Keep going and posting.

Terri

Thanks Terri, BTW, your finished drawing is beautiful!

Thanks Terri! (robichon)

Yours is incredible!

I really like the color one you put on here too!

I’m really having trouble with this one …maybe I should trace too! Just seemed like a lot to trace but had trouble with grid measurements too. Really don’t know how to draw the right side of the cathedral where it has the columns just can’t keep the roof even in line with itself!

Good one for the virtue of Patience for sure! Love your art (all of them Terri)!

Is that with grid or traced Meme5 Sonia?

So much detail ….you’re awesome! Looks like ready for a paint by numbers now! LOL I know how much work you’ve put into it! Great job! And especially being sick for awhile too ! Keep it up you’re on a roll! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Sorry that is has been awhile. I was meaning to show this image of my drawing a few weeks ago and I lost it. However, I was able to find it. I have made a lot more progress, I will get that done as soon as possible. I tried to fix the photo, but I couldn’t.

You are all doing a great job with this complex and challenging subject. I look forward to the day when I might even contemplate attempting something like this.

Hello all,

So I was telling myself to wait 1-2 lessons to see how it would be approached in the lesson and then continue. Suddenly, I found myself being 5-6 lessons behind  . Time flies, but here I am, making some progress today.

It was a bit longer break, so I had to get used to the pen again.

Here is my drawing so far:

Hi @Lucy

You are doing GREAT and I hope you stick with it until the end. The reason I got my own drawing done in just a few weeks is because I was familiar with the pens, but also because you get a rhythm going and if you start and stop a lot, it takes much longer to complete the drawing and it doesn’t always look consistent.

erased so many times and know the grid is wrong size probably for an 8.25 x 11.5”

Hello all,

I worked a little on my church. It is a slow process (and I don’t take as much time as some of you) but it still is a bigger project.

I have limited internet these days so I am just drawing by myself, not following videos but I will watch them later on.

I was working on the tree on the right side. Here is my progress for now:
