Doesn’t look like anyone started the thread for the current live lesson - so here goes. Not much yet but loving it so far!
I am loving it! I wander what’s the bottom going to be. I can’t believe I forgot to join the lesson, was looking forward to go along with this new lesson!
Hi Sonia -
Don’t know if you heard, but there is no live lesson next week. Matt has someplace else he has to be.
Terri Robichon
What a great start. I love it.
@robichon
Thank you for the heads up! I really hate that I forgot to join in.
June,
it is looking great. I’ll post mine soon. Running behind as always.
Here is my beginning to the lesson. Please ignore the smudges below. This is actually a Fabriano pastel paper I bought years ago and it has great tooth and nice texture that is somewhat random, not mechanical.
Teri
I missed the lesson, but intend to catch up. I am dying to try pastelmat so got some online. However, I didn’t pay attention to the dimensions and it’s 7x9.5in. I will either make a tiny landscape on pastelmat or use a different paper I already have even if it’s grey.
I used grey. That is the color that Matt used. The dimensions he is using are 12 x 13.5
Gonna have to watch this one and maybe catch up on some other projects. Dont have any pastels, never used them.
I am pretty new with pastels. I find them fun and relaxing though a little challenging to handle. There are some inexpensive sets for starting to see if you like them or not. On Amazon there are many brands.
This Wednesday, the 26th there will not be a live lesson.
I know what you mean by many projects. I have this one, an acrylic painting, a oil painting, some ink drawings, and Stan-Fran to finish still. But then being disabled these things keep me going.
Hope to see your rendering of this in whatever medium you choose to use.
Teri
I had never used pastels until joining TVI and now they are one of my favorites to work with. I also like to use charcoal, colored pencils, and ink. I tend to buy small started sets of things and try at least once, then I know if I want to invest. I do not like acrylics or oil pastels much. Actually gave my acrylics to a friend that likes to paint! lol.
Hope you give this live lesson a try!
Thanks for posting this, June! I’m hoping to be able to watch the video and start on this soon. You have a beautiful beginning!
Brenda
Beautiful, Teri! I’m ready to get started on this.
Brenda
that looks amazing! hope you are feeling better!
Thank you, June! I really enjoyed working on this. I love soft pastels. As for the shingles outbreak, I’m distracting myself with art. I’ve been in quite a bit of pain, but I think I may be on the downhill side finally.
Brenda
I love it, Teri! I’ve never heard of Fabriano paper. I’ll check it out.
Brenda
Looking good! I’ll try to catch up today
Brenda,
I forgot I had it. I think that I bought it years ago not know what it was - haha!
I am enjoying this landscape. I have so much to learn about pastels. Thanks for the encouragement, It will be strange to not have the live lesson tonight,
Teri
