Live Lesson Pastel Landscape 7/19/23

I’m ready to be back in “class!” It seems like forever since I was there. Looking forward to next Wednesday.

Finally caught up with the marsh live lesson
Ended up using the smaller pastelmat to get a feel for it since I’ve never used it before. If feels great. I was all giggly inside while applying the super awesome soft pastels on the tiny pastelmat :dancer:t4:. I got carried away at my studio AKA the kitchen table and blew the pastel dust everywhere #ohwell

I am looking forward to Wednesday too. I am so glad that Matt doesn’t take the summers off!

I can’t wait for tonight. I don’t have pastels so I’m doin this with Prismacolor CPs in a 7x10 mixed media book. So far I’m almost able to keep up. First time I’ve used Prismacolor instead of Polychromos - they really are buttery in comparison!

Teresa, looks good so far. I am thinking of possibly doing the same thing. I don’t have pastels (yet).

Teresa,

This is looking great! Will be watching to see everyone’s postings of Wednesdays lesson. I definitely am running behind!!

Results from the second lesson. Please ignore the smudges on the bottom half - haha! I am glad we work from top to bottom and not the reverse. I can’t imagine what I would be coming up with at this time!

This is a bad picture; the left side is not dark as it is here.

It is looking great, I’m glad to see someone else is caught up. I just now finished my live lesson 2. I am in love with pastelmat
So excited live for lesson 3. Hoping Matt’s all better. Here’s my progress.

this is what I got done last week during the lesson. I probably should do a bit more before tomorrow but not sure I’ll get to it!
Loving everyone’s progress

June, nicely done! See y’all tomorrow night!

I love clouds and sky! I have tons of sky pictures on my phone and some day soon enough I will tackle a soft pastel painting/drawing of my favorite picture.

June - I’m with you in not liking acrylics, and just beginning to get the hang of oil painting. Lots of other things I like more.

Thanks to all of you that have been posting your progress photos. I’ve been busy and away the last few weeks so haven’t started this one yet. Will definitely be watching tonight and putting it on my “to do” project list.

it looks so realistic already!

those pastel versions all look really effective. Trying to upload my progress after last Wednesday but having technical difficulties. (Update: got it!). I’ll probably start falling behind and needing to do homework. I was scared to sketch in the rest of the water the way Matt did with the broad strokes - not there yet with CPs. but sure enjoying it and so glad Gettin’ Sketchy is starting up this afternoon!
