I hope I catch up at some point. Here in East Texas is cold and rainy again and obviously humid so it will take six and a half years for the oil paint to dry. I just finished the Lesson 4 from the Live Class Current Series. I am soooo enjoying it!!
Not to blow my own horn, but I give myself the āMost Improvement in Oil Paintingā Award . It this painting is not all that good, just imagine the quality of previous tries! Anyhow, this is totally a joy to follow along the recorded classes!!
Looking great Sonia. Iām looking forward to seeing the final completed painting. Iāve never used oils myself. maybe one day Iāll try.
Fantastic! Keep going.

Your happiness shines through in your comment. Youāre doing great! I have set painting (oil or watercolor) aside because I am quite wrapped up in soft pastels.
Patricia.
Hi Sonia @Meme5
Keep going girl - you are doing great. I have good intentions to do this too, but who knows when I will get to it.
Terri Robichon
On your way to a great start
Hi Sonia.
Congratulations on taking on this challenge. I think I will do it next and post my progress here too.
Iām going to try painting with an easel. Never done that before but physical therapist doesnāt want me looking down for extended stretches of time because of the vertigo treatments.
Terri
More of my oil paintingā¦Yāall I love oils!! Sure my colors are not the right ones but who cares! At least I can tell there are trees and rocks as opposed to shapeless oily blobs of paint as I used to make haha. I enjoy my own little progress so much! So Fun!
Hi Sonia @Meme5
Youāre making great progress, and I can definitely see that you are doing better with the oil paints. I finally have my drawing of this landscape ready and should be pulling out the paints in a few days.
I just had my second Physical Therapy treatment for the vertigo today, and am not supposed to look ādownā for 2 days (which makes drawing and painting difficult). Iāll post something next week.

Hi Jane @janed
The gouache is working out well. Looks like Sonia and you are at about the same point in the painting. Keep up the good work and keep posting.
Terri Robichon
I like that nice gouache application painting of yours! I am so glad youāre doing the live class as well and posting your progress which is great!!It wouldāve not occurred to me to try it with gouacheā¦.I guess any wet medium is kind of out of my mind since I donāt use them much. I hope to see more of your work progress as I work on mine some more in other possible areas while the rocks area dries to the touch.

Terri @robichon,
So good to know youāre receiving therapy treatment for your vertigo.
Also good to know youāll be carefully working on this landscape. You know I canāt wait to see your great painting progress!!
Donāt look down, but join us!

Gouache version is complete.
One of these days I might invest in oils. Itās more a question of space for meā¦I have so much stuff.
Jane
Hi Jane -
Your drawing turned out well, and Iām so glad you finished it and posted here for us to see.
Iām actually working on mine right now and hope to post a āwork in progressā next week sometime. Thanks for motivating me to keep going.
Terri Robichon
Oooh I like it a lot! I still have not tried gouache, I can see you have good control with it! How long did it take you to complete it?
Thank you for sharing with us! I wander how many more people are doing this one. I couldāve sworn I saw another post about this one?
Sonia Alonzo
Thanks Terri. Looking forward to seeing your excellent work as always.

Hi Sonia,
Thereās probably about 5 or 6 hours gone into this. One advantage of gouache is the ability to rewet the paint both on the pallet and on the paper. On disadvantage is that itās so easy to rewet the paint on the paper if youāre going over it with foreground elements, the paint can smudge and get messy. I did a lot of dabbing on the rocks with a stiff brush to get texture.
