Luminance colour replacement for prismacolor

I’m running out of dark umber from prismacolor. I can’t buy prismacolor open stock where I live so I want to replace the colour with the luminance equivalent. Can anyone tell me what the closest one is, please. I seem unable to find a colour comparison chatt for the 2 brands

Hello @Jennilein,

I was curious to find the match.
I made a little swatch of my pencils to compare. It really helps if you make yourself a color chart of all your pencils with name and number to compare at a glance, especially in the middle of a project. I know it’s a life saver for me. Matt does mention dark umber with indigo to make a more natural “black”, he also mentions in many other tutorials to use A dark blue and A dark brown. It’s ok to try other darks of each just by looking at them. I’ve tried even the prismacolor dark brown on occasion. Whatever I see first… here’s a picture of my swatches. I hope it helps. I didn’t find a luminance that comes all that close to PC Dark umber, in my opinion the closest one was the Derwent Lightfast Natural Brown. The PC Espresso was also really close.
They do carry open stock online through amazon and blick art, and in stores at Michaels and Hobby Lobby. Good luck

Here’s the solvent blended version. Polychromos Walnut Brown is also very good match, I would say almost the exact same just not as saturated.

Thank you so much. I think I will try cassel earth then. It looks prrtty close.

Unfortunately I don’t have any of the shops you mentioned in my country and amazon only offers the packages from prismacolor not the individual pencils.
I can buy derwent and Luminance, most of caran d’ache and faber castell open stock. That’s about it.
