Hi all,
I’m starting to work with Charcoal pencils and powders. How do you clear off the charcoal dust without getting the powder on the rest of your drawing?

Hello @Harlie ,
Welcome to the forum! I hope to see your artwork here for sharing!
The only way I know to keep the least amount of dust from charcoal drawings is by using my easel to draw on an elevated incline. Most of the dust just slides off, and the rest I blow off.
I hope this helps.

Thank you, I’ll give that a try.
Hi @Harlie
Good question. You could buy one of those small vacuums. I just blow into a waste basket frequently and away from what is finished so far. At least charcoal can be erased if necessary.
I also just found out there is something called liquid charcoal which doesn’t have all the dust. I’ve ordered a tube from Blick and will play around with it once it arrives.
