Mixed media sketch

Broke some “Rules” today and got out of my comfort zone some. Used charcoal, graphite, and watersoluble graphite on this sketch. The sketch is of the “Winged Nike Victory of Samothrace Goddess Cast Marble Statue”. Did some abstract mark making for the background and let some of it spill over into the foreground. Drawing was on 18"×24", 75# standard drawing paper. It was a fun departure from my typical style.

Thanks Terri @robichon . I’m having a blast and learning so much now with every drawing. I just need more production time. But getting faster, as this was a 3 hour effort. Larger scale is bigger but can be quicker on looser drawings.

It is impressive! I also love the larger scale.
I really like the looseness, something I struggle with.

Good job! Love it. It is okay to break the rules. It works out better that way at times.

Thanks Donia @Meme5 . I was scared to go beyond the background with som of the marks, but said just do it and it gave thecdrawing a nice effect, I think.

Thank you @Denise . I broke the rules with intension. Thus, mixed charcoal and graphite, but put the graphite over charcoal, not the other way around.
