Totally agree with this!!!
Thanks so much Jim. That comment really makes me happy too.

All of you here in the forum are so important to me. It’s a positive supportive place for one and all. Thanks for your participation.

6.375x10 Snow Owl on Strathmore Series 400 Bristol Paper, smooth surface. This is the last completed drawing I made.
Landscape Drawing With Clouds From yesterday’s June 12th TVI Youtube’s 1 hour exercise.
I don’t “see dead people” (from the movie 6th sense ) But I see clouds!!
My first cloud looking clouds!
Thank you Matt!!
It’s a really nice owl. You did very good! A tricky subject to draw, I’m thinking it’s graphite. Hard to push the darker values. At least in my experience, unless I use the matte pencils.
Sonia
Sorry! Forgot to say, it’s graphite and matt on the bird.
Hi Pierre @PiDo - I love your owl. The background works well, creating the contrast needed around your focal point. Nice range of values.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Sonia. I really like how this turned out, and the clouds are very believable.
I’m thinking about doing this with oil pastels, but that is another media that I have used for exactly 1 drawing. What size is your drawing?
Terri with 2 r’s
Thank you! I’m glad you could see clouds too, Terri W2Rs,
Do you mean what random size is it? It’s 11 ish x 10 ish.
Sonia
Hello everyone,
I just want to say hello to some new people on here and all those who are friends and have been around a while.
Everyone’s artwork is wonderful. Everyone has their own personality and style, and it keeps things lively and interesting.
Hopefully soon I can go through a little slower and post individual responses, but in the meantime, it is this for now.
It is nice to see you so active here and in the live lesson. I saw your question to Terri (with 2r’s)) and it has been a while since we have talked. Private message me anytime, to say hello or with questions.
I saw your question regarding fur. I have found that fur like in colored pencils, watercolor, pen and ink, acrylics, pastels, if there is a tutorial it is pretty much the same methodology so will give you an idea on how to proceed.
It is all in the values, if there are highlights and shadows with each clump of hairs then the fur will turn out nice.
Here are some old animals with fur I have done:
This lion is done in acrylics
This Kitten is done in charcoal
This cat is done in soft pastels
This lioness is done in graphite:
Obviously, I am still learning but use the same method of painting in each of these animals, just different mediums. The acrylic lion and the charcoal kitten were both critiqued by Matt in the past.
Matt has many courses where he does animals in different mediums that can help too.
Hope to hear from you soon again,
Teri (with 1r) - Artsycrochet
I should have known better than to ask you what size something is. Well at least you got me in the ballpark.

All the work you’ve done that I’ve never seen. Very inspiring.

Teri(w1r)-Artsycrochet;
Your art is amazing! Your animals are so realistic, I want to reach out & pet them.
I hope with lots of practice & patience to be able to create paintings that well. Thank you for reaching out to visit with me. I will definitely look through the lesson plans & see what knowledge I can get to help me paint my dog Pipsqueak in water-mixable oil paint.
I hope you get well soon
Stormy
Thank you, Terri (with 2r’s),
The Lion and the Kitten were both critiqued about 2 years ago by Matt.
Teri (with 1r)
Thank you, Stormy (Donna),
If you have trouble finding the courses with the animals, please let me know and I will send you the links for them.

Teri W1R @TLP,
Love all the furs in all your paintings and drawings…: and the lion in acrylic is gorgeous!
My poor little duck in acrylics is not turning very good. I sure will finish it regardless…last application of acrylics, they were drying too fast so I added some dark areas before my last bit of dark dried out, the brush was a mess even as I rinsed it. Drying even though I used the dry slower liquid
Here’s my little duck in thicker water…
Plus a little progress I’ve made on my hydrangeas.

OMG, that is amazing!
Here’s mine. Graphite, color pencil and soft pastel on Legions Stonehenge Color. This was my first time using this paper.
Sonia,
Don’t let the acrylics discourage you. I use golden acrylics which dry slower but are a little pricy. I also put them in a shallow Rubbermaid so you can push the air out of them.
Also, I spray the top with a fine mist of water periodically, like an old hand sanitizer so it is just a mist.
Remember also since acrylic dry’s so fast you can sand it down and paint right over the top of it. I have done that so so so so so many times.
These tricks, your slow dry medium, spritz of water periodically and getting the feel of how acrylics work take a little time, but when figured out are fun to paint with. Keep going, you have a good start.
Your hydrangeas are beautiful, just lovely. Can’t wait to see both of these finished but go at your own pace always so you feel comfortable. Don’t rush because we look forward to seeing the finished artwork.
You are a really great artist, especially for the short time you have been practicing art. Really nice all of what you do.
