After the parrot that I made, I decided to make a whole series with birds, with the same technique. But I wanted to be birds that lives here in the Netherlands, so actually that parrot, although that one gave me the idea, doesn’t count.
This is my husbands favorite bird, the European goldfinch. I drew this with 003, 005 and 01 fineliners on 300gsm 100% cotton coldpressed watercolor paper and painted it with Winsor and Newton Cotman watercolors. 15x18 centimeters.
Thank you! Although they’re Commons in my area of the country, we unfortunately don’t have them in the garden. Once in a while I see them in a distance in areas with lots of green.
I decided to edit the name of this topic, because I don’t think it’s appreciated here if I make a new topic about any new bird with the same technique that I make. Anyway… this adorable little guy is the common firecrest and the second bird in my series of birds that I am planning to make. Same as with the european goldfinch I made this with fineliners and watercolor on coldpressed 300gsm 18x15cm watercolor paper.
It’s always a treat to see your artwork. And I really enjoy the link showing how it was created.
So looking forward to your continued posts for this series. I love birds.

P.S. you can start as many topics as you like, but if you do things with a common theme, fewer topics does make it easier to look back and see them all at one place.
