Although finished months ago I am finally posting my interpretations of Peewee. I started a separate thread as I did Peewee in two versions.
First, I did a 6 x 9 colored pencil drawing starting with Faber-Castell Polychromos and i didn’t like how it was turning out, too flat. Then I remembered that Faber-Castell had a colored pencil to work on black paper. I finished this one with these pencils and could tell the difference.
Looking close you can see the difference of the two brands of pencil
The second one I did with Indian Ink. This one is 9 x 12 and I was pleased with how it turned out.
These are wonderful. I especially enjoy seeing the characteristics of both mediums and how each evokes a different emotional response. The second Pee Wee is so flowy and free, he makes me want to reach out and touch his silky feathers. They are both such lovely pieces of art. This reference also inspired me~ I remember doing it with the class, then in watercolor.
Thank you for sharing, I always learn something from your posts!
Yes Teri I like both of them also…think the bottom one is more vivid and brighter feathers for sure!
But it always amazes me how different mediums and different pencils change the art so much!
Thanks for sharing with us after all!
love this community!

Now I want to try it in watercolor. Matt critiqued one and he mentioned it looked more like acrylic - lol. I took all of his suggestions and. well I think I ruined it. I am going to redo it.
I do like the way ink works on black paper. If you put white down where your elements should be, head, beak. tree. etc. then the colors pop.
Let’s both do it! I’m going to put that on my list of things to paint, Pee Wee one more time- in watercolor. I’m fairly sure it will be better with more experience.
