Portrait of a Norwegian Forest cat

This is Rosie, my sister’s cat.

Pastel pencils, PanPastel and soft pastels on Pastelmat.

I used the grid method as explained by Matt, which is great for drawing pet portraits. This is my second cat portrait, first one in colour, and it was an adventure with some trial and error. (Don’t make the underpainting too pink, for example…)
My sister said I really captured Rosie’s expression and character, so that was the best compliment she could give me

Oh my goodness this is so beautiful. I had a cat like this once and you’ve captured it wonderfully. No distortions, just perfect. Congratulations.

Fantastic work! My sincerest appreciation for work so well done! I find animals easier to draw than people.
