Lenet @lenetg137 The background texture is great. I think you are doing crazy good with the watercolor and hope you will do more paintings with it. You’re a natural.

Terri @robichon , Yours looks great! One thing I did, i brushed on my water in the same direction as what I planned to do the grain of table, and whether coincidence or not, the warping I had went in that direction so it worked to my advantage. Just a thought.
Lenet
Hi Lenet - I brushed it on in the direction of the table grain also, didn’t help. I even pressed it under heavy books all last night, and today when I finished and it was dry, I ironed it. I’m sure that the Hot Press contributed greatly to the problem. It’s okay - I learned.

Oh. Em. Gee. Terri Robichon. Seriously. Such a beautiful work of art. Super talented.

I think all that warping paper is the curse of the tomatoes. Might need to use Holy water next time you paint tomatoes, I lived it

Hi Sonia. First you make me smile. Then you have me laughing. My life is so much better with you as my friend. Sorry that last personal message was so long. It seems like a long time since we connected with our family stuff.

@robichon
No apologies needed. I love your messages My reply may be just as long. My perspective widened to say the least. My respect deepened.

For anyone following this topic, I’m on the road traveling for a few days. I will be finishing my painting up in the next few days when I return home. Please check back here later this week for completion.

Returned home and finished my first watercolor! The process was amazing, fun and challenging all at once. I did learn a tremendous amout on this one. Thanks for all the help and advice received here on this one. You all are the best!
This painting, like Terri’s has been submitted in the photo challenge on a different forum, but thought sharing the process here would help me get some pointers and also allow others viewing this thread to gain insight from the experience.

Lenet,
Bravo! Amazing work, I wouldn’t have known it’s your first watercolor!
Sonia
Thank you, Sonia @Meme5 . I have paid attention to others and what they were doing. I have watched many watercolor videos as well. I have applied the basic techniques to the watercolor process, and just went from light to dark with many layers. This one took about 15 hours.
Lenet
Hi Lenet @lenetg137 I’ve been watching for your completed tomato and cheese plate. How exciting to see it done. WOW, what an incredible painting!!! I’m so glad you found joy in using watercolors and hope you continue to explore this media. (When there is a will, there is a way.)
Let me know if you happen upon another challenge that you’re interested in. It was fun doing it together.
Terri Robichon
Thank you, Terri @robichon . I think I have overcome my 30 year fear and artist block using the medium. I’m sure you will see more applications including watercolor.
I’ll definitely, pursue other challenges as I come accross them. I’ll definitely let you and other’s know here so that you may join in as you see fit. Even though it was you and I, it was fun. Maybe others will join in too.
Time for something else to draw. I may soon try a line and wash. Looking at more in VI courses (plenty I want to do) as well as some original stuff.
Stay tuned for what’s coming next…
