I used the Liquitex professional clear Gesso. It does feel a little rough when you rub your hand over it when it’s dry, but that has not impacted my ability to get fine details. Here is what the bottle says: seals, stiffens and provides surface “tooth” for painting surfaces. Dries translucent. Permanent non-yellowing, flexible, and water resistant when dry. For acrylic, oil, pastels and other paint media. Apply to raw canvas, hardboard, paper, wood and other non-oily porus surfaces. Do NOT mix with oils. Works well as a pastel ground, CAN TINT WITH ACRYLIC COLOR.
