Here is my watercolor that I’ve been working on. I’m pleased with it so far- I need to add a few little highlights.
Your eyeball looks like it’s staring right at me! It’s wonderful, @Meme5
Terri @robichon,
Thank you for the resource availability! I will definitely get with you about that.

Lovely watercolor, what size is it and what kind of paper? It’s so smooth, as opposed to when I do any watercolor the paper warps for me as I’m still learning watercolor applications.
Thank you for sharing and keep ‘em coming,
Sonia Alonzo
Love seeing all the great art y’all are making. I recently starting watching Matt and Ashley and learned that there right here in NC where I am! I’ve learned a lot so far and I can’t wait to learn more. Here’s a dog sketch I recently did - there are some things I don’t like about it, but I did use lessons learned from Matt and Ashley and it’s overall a definite improvement for me!
Your Weimaraner sketch is great! I see you did it your own way by using charcoal, I remember that one being with graphite. I love that you chose a different medium and were successful with it. Thank you for sharing!

@Meme5 The piece is 12x12 on Arches cold press paper. I finally bought some and will never go back! I was waiting to get “better” before using the good paper, but found out the paper allowed watercolors to work the way they are supposed to and therefore my colors were more what I wanted. I used lots of layers and this paper stayed flat. It’s one of those “a-ha”” moments! I know that we have been told this over and over, but sometimes you have to experience it for yourself in order to get it. That’s me, anyway. And I love your coke bottle!!
Thank you Sonia! I intend to explore other media too, but am focusing on watercolour right now.
I missed seeing this when posted, but glad I saw it this morning. Really nice work here , well done showing the gradual loss of detail go back in the distance . tom
Hi Lisa @HarleysMom
Yup, quality of your materials definitely matters. I like Arches too, but almost always use the 300# hot press watercolor paper. The smooth surface makes it easier for the level of detail I try to achieve.

When I first saw this I thought I was looking at a reference photo! This is beautiful!!!
This was just an experiment with mixing media. This is watercolor, oil pastel and colored pencil. I love oil pastel, am neutral on colored pencil and I deeply dislike using watercolor but am forcing myself to use it because I bought it. Now that I’ve tried this, I may get some use out of that watercolor for other underpaintings.
Those colors are wonderful.
Keep going girl friend. So far so good (actually it’s great so far).
