Pen and Ink Architecture

Hello all,
I decided to give this first “sketchy version” a try.

When I saw the reference picture, I knew it would be a bit harder topic to draw (for me) and that it would be out of my comfort zone. I have never tried to draw with a pen, so I thought now is the time.

I really liked that we got to see the beginning of the process. It was mentioned how people may think “let’s just jump into a project without sketching” (and so I was thinking, yes, that’s what I would do - I would just jump in  ).
So, realizing my own thoughts, I picked up the pen and sketched along with the video. I deviated a bit from it, but the main point for me was to actually try to draw with a pen.
I don’t have ink (yet ), so I tried a classic liner instead. I could see how different it was, comparing it to ink, but also, I could see which kind of mark I would be able to make with it. It is true that by doing a little sketch, you get an idea about your subject. Where everything is positioned, where you didn’t get it right (or did get it right), and how complex and hard (or easy) it is.

It was a nice practice. Now I will think, if I will continue and do the “real drawing” as well.

Here is my sketch

Thanks Teri!

I am not sure if I will dive in to this one because I don’t have as big paper as Matt is using, so still thinking about it. I have not watched the 3rd lesson yet, I am curious how the big homework was done. Let’s see if it will scare me or push me
