Pen and Ink drawings

This isn’t great, but it’s not meant to be. I wanted to experiment and try a few things and see how it turned out.:+1:

Great job on this. I found it the most challenging of this course. Do you use one pen or different types?

Hi Dan -
What do you mean “it’s not great”. I’m totally loving all of your posts and hope you keep them coming.

I wish i didn’t do the promarker shading as the paper didn’t take the promarker well… i should have used watercolour… but going to draw it again and see how it comes out  thank you though. Appreciate the encouragement

Yes, I can see now what you mean. I don’t even own any markers (yet). Watercolor is usually my preferred media for washes, or diluted ink makes for a nice wash also. Post your results, I love to compare it with the first one.

There comes a time where you have to stop watching everyone else drawing, reading about pen drawing and just go for it!! Really pleased how this has come out :smiley::100:

Very nice! As my 12-year-old granddaughter tells me, “Nice crosshatching!” And hatching, too. I’m about to try pen and ink on a leaf and add a watercolor wash.

As far as I got. I didn’t love the colors in the leaf I chose, so I’ll keep looking! Our leaves are just now changing and falling.

Fantastic. Love it. Just throw some green on it and while wet dab with some brown… Then you can do a little extra again

Yup, you did great.

@Dannomiss89 and @robichon here’s a watercolor “study.” No ink yet, but I watched so many watercolor videos yesterday! I think I’ve made a breakthrough. This is not the same leaf, obviously. I’ll add minimal details when it’s dry.

I also switched watercolors. These are Windsor newton except the yellow which is Holbein gamboge nova.

Brenda - I’m really liking how you’re taking full advantage of the character of watercolors. Love the mix of intense fall colors that you’ve used. Looking forward to the completed image.

Thanks so much @Dannomiss89 it didn’t dry as brilliant as I wanted, but I kinda love it. Compared to one I did a few days ago, it’s leaps and bounds better. :star_struck:
