Still Life in Oils - Ala Prima

Another new technique used for oils today. This week is all about the Still Life. Also, all of the paintings this week are Ala Prima style, which is wet-wet all in one sitting. This one also had a limited palette. Yellow, Red, Blue, White and Black. So all colors were mixed from the basics. Done on 11"×14" canvas.

Thank you, Jim @1kidneyJD . I had to look it up also, the first time I heard the term. I’ll keep sharing new knowledge as I learn it. I have two more paintings in Ala Prima to do this week and another charcoal on the list.

@lenetg137 Lenet,

I really like it. Especially your Christmas cactus. I’m too lazy to look it up again. I can’t recall what A la prima means. Feel free to define it. Lol

Hello VI friends. I’ve been out and away from my art work (regrettably) due to multiple issues. I was able to get back to some painting this weekend. I did 2 still life paintings, both Alla Prima Style on 11"x14" canvases. Did one Friday and one today. Felt a little rusty, but glad to get some paint brushes in my hands again.
