Been awhile since been on this part of our site …so Terri how are your eyes doing now and you brain learning to cope with the new view?
Therese
Thanks for asking as I know you have had your own issues with your eyes. My second eye surgery was on September 23rd, and the one-week check-up shows everything is healing really well. I continue to have prescription drops daily for another week and a half. All lifting and bending restrictions have been removed.
Most of the time I manage really well with no glasses. Distance and intermediate areas - like watching TV are good. Still have times where my vision is blurry on the close stuff, so at times I will use the cheaters / reading glasses which will render perfect vision. I’m back to the eye doctor on October 29th when the full range of vision tests will take place to determine if I need glasses and what the exact prescription would be.
I’m so glad I had this done and my doctors are incredible. Immediately after the first eye I was done, I was amazed what real WHITE looked like and was shocked by the clarity / saturation of all colors. The transition to where you need to have cataracts removed is so gradual that you don’t have a clue how it is impacting what you see. It’s like there is an amber colored film on everything. So, for others reading this, if you are in your retirement years I suggest you go and get your eyes examined if you haven’t already been doing that.

Hi Forum Friends, Well the most noticeable thing in my life right now is this stray cat. First saw it briefly earlier this year when there was snow on the ground. Then saw it in the yard in late June with a mouse in its mouth. But it was when it started sitting on my deck in early September to eat the suet crumbs that fell from the bird feeders that it stole my heart. I have been feeding it since mid-September. It runs when it sees us, so definitely won’t let us touch it. But it regularly shows up at least twice a day to eat, always licking the dish clean. We have even bought it a heated water dish for the winter (which it hasn’t touched yet) and built it a shelter in a secluded and protected part of our deck.
The cat has a rounded belly, and our biggest hope is that she (?) is not pregnant. You may also notice that it has no tail.

Hi Terri,
I have had cats my entire life. My mum ran a cat sanctuary, and I have thus from early childhood, dealt with lots of strays, feriles, injured as weel as tortured cats. She can be tamed, but it won’t be easy. She - and I am going to insist it’s a she based on the bonestructure, is probably suffering from worms, hence the round stomach - as all strays do. But she is fully capable of producing two to three litters a year. She is very pretty.
wow @siffermus
I really appreciate your feedback. She does seem young and slender to me, all except the belly. But I can’t detect it getting any bigger. Sure would not want to see baby kitty’s trying to survive the winter in Minnesota. I have no desire to bring her in the house because I currently have 2 cats (which I got as kittens from the shelter) and an older German Shepherd that has epileptic seizures. It would be too stressful to my pets and the stray. Plus, we had already made a decision that our current pets would be the last since my husband is 86 years old and having pets can be a lot of work. I do know that I will keep feeding it as well as providing non-frozen water and shelter if it chooses to use those things.

Oh oh… she is looking very pregnant!
Lovely photos and I am grateful for your caring
.
My little cat Sunny was born at a Harbour in a stray cat family and he came in after 5 Weeks staying outside around our Camper to come in (even there were 3more animals in this time. 1 dog and two cats) and since then he is traveling with us. He is a big gift!
