Where do you live & what's happening there

In Minnesota spring is when I start looking for flowers. An hour away from where I live is an incredible flower garden (in St Cloud) and we try to make a visit there a couple times a year. Yesterday the highlights were Bleeding Hearts and Tulips. I think several will become reference photos for my artwork.

Hi Sonia
I hope there will be beautiful artwork too, probably just 5x7 items because I’m running out of time for this year’s fair. I took 500 photos in about 2 hours, and I was laying on the ground for a lot of them.

Hello, Since I am running behind I will say that all your photographs from where you live are amazing. Photography has never been my strength.
Thanks for sharing.

Here in Asheville things are slowly pulling themselves together. The east part of Asheville just opened some roads after six months.to an area where some stores will not be opening at all and others just started opening.

The interstate to I40 west toward TN is almost all the way repaired to make traveling west easier with no detours.

There are still multiple bridges that need repair, the state of the water system is unpredictable considering turbidity but improving, slowly. there are still whole areas where people are still living in tents, rv’'s, etc. and needing supplies. Otherwise were limping along one day at a time.

There are signs of spring.

To all mothers I hope you have a Happy Mother’s Day!

Hi Teri.

Thank you so much on the update on how Asheville is doing with recovery from the hurricane. I can’t believe the process is so slow and am sad that clean drinking water is still not available without buying and carrying it home.

I’ve managed to get a bit behind in keeping up with posts. I havne’t doesn’t much art work myself, so nothing for me to show.

Everyone: I have enjoyed looking at the artwork everyone has posted. Love seeing what folks are working on and the different styles.

Teri w/1r: That has been slow, but getting back to normal after a natural disaster is difficult. At least there is some progress with roads opening. Drinking water would be good, hopefully soon?

Terri w/2rs: I love those 2 pictures and will be adding them to top of my ref photo pile  in the book you tube world - TBR Pile = ToBeRead Pile. We need something similar, maybe TBD but its for ToBeDrawn or TBP if you are using a paint medium  just the RefPhoto Pile since thats what I started with lol

Beth,

I think that these are fun ideas. You should start the threads.

Those who have the opportunity to take photos can help those of us who can’t do much photography!!

Hi everyone -

I thought I’d add a couple more spring in Minnesota photos from today. First are the lilacs which are in bloom. They smell so good, but I have to go outside to appreciate them. Anything in a vase in the house would get knocked over or eaten by my cats.

The other photo is of an event that happens every spring, when we have Pest Pro come and spray the outside of the house. When you live in a rural area, the spider webs and other bugs are a nuisance if you have to keep brushing them off the house. We do make sure they stay away from the deck where all the bird feeders are located.

Hazy, Hot, Humid

Hi Sonia @Meme5

Texas is just too hot, and too humid for too long for me. I’m happy having delightful summers, colorful leaves in the fall and snowstorms in the winter.

But it is nice seeing what other parts of our country are like, and other parts of the world as well.

Thanks for sharing.

Terri,

W is getting a water testing set to test the tap water to see how it is. Hopefully with Brita filters it will be useable.

It’s amazing how much water can be used in two to three days. W just brought back 20 gallons of bottled water and will most likely need to get more Sunday or Monday.

I am hoping that the test strips will ease his conscious and he won’t have to carry more water as he is exhausted.

Thunderstorms and wind last night with hail. Sunny today like nothing happened last night. Rain at night/early morning always helps one to sleep.

Take care this busy week,

Sonia,

Yes TX can get hazy hot and humid. I have difficulty tolerating it. I do believe mountain weather is more my style.

I admire those of you who can tolerate such weather conditions. Hats off to you!!

Me too, he looks so tired all the time. I ordered some test strips so that we can start checking the water’s turbidity.

Wow, Exactly like the truck in my post!
Is it my imagination or has it been a while since I’ve seen you at the forum?
In any case, good to see your sketches!
Also thank you for your kind words about my Peewee the peacock :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
