I think you did a GREAT job on this. I also hate the texture of canvas and a while back figured out there was no reason not to use something else with a smooth texture. I have been using Arches 300# hot press watercolor paper. It is smooth and fairly thick. It works best with gesso (i use clear gesso) or a thin layer of acrylic over the entire surface to start.

Thanks, Terri. Iā€™m using a gesso board for the pear and like it so much better! I have 300# watercolor paper and might give it a try!
