Colored Ink Cards of Birds

Fabulous! These cute colourful birds pop so beautifully in this sheer black background!

All of these are great. Great job.

Thank you, Denise. You are always so encouraging.

Teri

Maki,

Thank you. This means a lot to me since I know how talented an artist you are. I need to look if you have anything else posted on your thread regarding the shows you have and are doing. Can you remind me the title to the thread?

Again, thank you. I do enjoy working on the coal black paper,

Teri

Hi Teri, thank you so much for your reply.
You mean both the shows in the US and the one that I’m now preparing?
As to the one in the US, some updates including the photos are shared here:
Three shows in the US
Regarding the tree pen drawing show now in preparation phase, I’ve just posted a new one here:
3rd piece by a cat-obsessed person.

Hope this helps! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :+1: :cat:

Maki,

Yes, this is exactly what I was needing to know.

Terri, so sorry you’ve been afflicted with Lyme disease. It is a difficult road to travel. But… look at you. Life handed you lemons and you made a whole souffle’ out of it. What wonderful bird paintings!

Thank you wren07, by your name I imagine you like birds! I appreciate the encouragement!

@matriarchJane39

Thank you for your kind comments!! It sounds like you have some knowledge about Lyme disease. Art has become a way of therapy to keep me motivated, as it has been a long road, since 2013.

I always have enjoyed lemons and a nice ice-cold glass of lemonade and everything else that can be made of them!.

Again, thank you!

Teri: A very close friend had one of the earliest diagnosed cases of Lyme. Unfortunately they told her she was hysterical, she was in menopause (at 35) and it was her imagination. It took 5 long years to get an accurate diagnosis. We suffered along with her. So, yes, I do know something about what you are going through. If you can do art like that, you are amazing! Best wishes for your continued recovery.

Jane

Jane,

Thank you. It is so difficult to find people who understand. The artwork came out of something neurological cause by lyme. I did not do it before it just happened one day, a way to fill the time after being an A type person who was always active and on the go.

I hope that your friend is doing better now. It can be a lonely journey as so many do not understand what Lyme does to a person. I am glad that you were there for her. I was told many of the same things and it took about 3 years to finally get the diagnosis.

Thank you for the encouragement on my artwork.

We are all too human and tend not to understand others difficulties until either we or our loved ones experience them. Yes, my friend felt alone and even though her husband was there and tried to be supportive he wasn’t very good at it. I lived 300 miles away and we didn’t have easy or cheap phone access back then. Congrats on finding something that gives you satisfaction and a great creative outlet.

Jane

Jane,

Thank you for the encouragement. Life is full of challenges (even in art) but there is a way through in the most difficult of times.

This is such a beautiful set of paintings. I’d love to know what kind of coloured ink you used?

@Sooz

Hello, I purchased the inks on Blick Art Material site. The brand is Dale-Rowney and I used two different types. Their FW Pearlescence’s and Their FW Acrylic water-resistant inks.

They have some new ones that are System 3

I hope that this helps you. There are plenty of other brands too.

Thank you for the compliment on the paintings.

Thanks Teri, I was fascinated to see how opaque the inks were on the dark background. Thanks for the intro into this different media.

Hi again, Teri. I have been trying a framing simulator provided by a Japanese frame & mat company for my new works, and came up with the idea of trying framing your lovely bird art too. Here are some results I’ve got…

First I tried this piece for a variety of frames & mats:

The 6th looked very nice so I used this combination for your other works:

Then I tried a different mat colour for this one:

Hopefully you like my choices
I personally find them gorgeous! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :+1: :tada:
