Thank you so much
I did my first ones with coloured pencils in December 2024, after restarting drawing with graphite in October 2024.

I wouldnā€™t have guessed you were new to colored pencil either. I really love what you did with the colors, how the darks and lights meet and intermingle.

Hello @Elina , very well done. Like others, would have never guessed that is your first parrot. Love it. It reminds me of one I had years ago.

Thank you.
I used cheap Color pencils from the Asia Shop (they are erasableā€¦ this helps my mind to start with ColoršŸ˜…ā€¦ and honestly I use them further to start my coloured pencil drawings because they donā€™t have any power in there colors) and Goldfaber (Watercolors without using water).
The paper is A4 ProArt 100gr/qm.

I would like to have the parrot on better paperā€¦ but I started buying different kinds of paper and coloured pencil afterā€¦ and itā€™s so contributing for the pictures and my joy.

Now working on this with Windsor and Newton and Derwent Metallic Pencils ( and the erasable for the first lines). Paper is Centauro Drawing paper 150gr/qm 248x346 mm.

Hi Elina -

We have a lot in common. Specifically a love of birds and colored pencils. You are doing great at keeping the colors vibrant and not muddy. Keep sharing - weā€™re loving your work.

Hi Elina -

This bird and the brilliant colors are very nice. If this is an original drawing (not from a lesson) I would suggest that you send it in to Matt for the memberā€™s minute. I have learned so much from these critiques over the last couple years that Iā€™ve been a member here.

Yes, itā€™s what you call an original drawing ā€¦ no class, no lessonā€¦ just by myself.
Oh, itā€™s interesting Impulsā€¦I can imagine I could learn much out of Matts critic.
Thank you :pray:t3:

Thank youšŸ„°ā€¦ I thought I am readyā€¦ But honestly I am again working at the background, try to get more depth through drawing shadow and a second colour in.

Terri, my choice to work further on the background came out of your idea to send this picture to Matt members minuteā€¦ I recognised that something worked on during my dreams in the nightā€¦ I drawed further on the background during my dreamsā€¦ And now in the daytime as wellšŸ˜‡ā€¦ Thank you, Terry, for this impuls in minimum double.

Hello Elina,

As I said in this weeks critique this is a fantastic colored pencil drawing. For me too it has brought back memories.

I started with colored pencils and still have a long way to go. I really enjoyed seeing your artwork develop.

Keep up with the inspiring work you are doing with your artwork.
