These all look great! I missed this one and I know I am in the minority in liking to draw along! I like the time pressure and if I do make this one up, I will will the time restraints.
Terri,
I like the close up flowers so much, I will do another one taking my sweet long time… bigger too ![]()
Sonia: I disagree with your opinion. the purpose of the sketch is NOT to make a perfect copy, but to increase our knowledge of what we are capable of. Your sketch (notice operative word “sketch”) is full of energy and life and is perfectly beautiful. Museums are full of paintings done alla prima and they are lively. I hope you do more of these i the future.
Thank you for being so passionate and giving such encouragement to build a person’s confidence! I will be doing tons of everything I can given the time and resources!
I dove into art in April without any prior knowledge of any art. So my terminology in art might be all over the place as far as the meaning of contextual vocabulary. As a matter of fact I have no idea what I just said ![]()

Sona:
Sorry, I’ve been at this a while and I tend to assume everyone knows what I know. Alla prima means you painted it in one sitting, start to finish. I don’t think it includes framing or matting. In any case your art was just fine. Did you do it as a slavish copy of Matt? No, thank heavens. Keep diving.![]()
No apology necessary. I retain the art concepts way better than its technical terminology. It’s just the way it is. It is amazing how artists from all backgrounds develop their knowledge and processes with such individuality. All very interesting to me. Part of why I enjoy this TVI community, so varied yet so much in common. ![]()
