Getting Sketchy Eraser Face

All I can say is that gettin sketchy was certainly fun last night. I did not have an ink pad so used liquid ink. I had a hard time controlling the dark to light. I mostly could get sorta dark or very light! Enjoy my attempt. Sure hope others share!

Wow, June!!! So you just dipped your eraser directly into ink? I think you did a great job given the absence of an ink pad! You inspire me to give it a try! I have ink. Interestingly, I have no pencils like Ashley used. LOL! I’ll have to get a stamp pad AND pencils before I give it a try. I have several projects in progress right now. It might be a while before I get to this one. Such bravery! I love it!!!

June,

Eraser face, cleaver! I would have had to do it the same way. I may go back and try it later, like you I only have liquid ink, maybe I’ll do it in different color when/if I try it. I’ve been a bit slack with Getting Sketchy, not feeling great these days.

Excellent job as always, also loved the critique of the cows!

Brenda,

I was actually thinking of using a pencil eraser and try it like stippling, not sure. Wouldn’t just any pencil with an eraser work?

Maybe a sponge in a dish could work like an ink pad. Just a thought.

Teri

Teri, I’m sure pretty much any eraser of a small diameter would work for this technique. I’m going to give this a try, maybe before next week. We did discuss that a sponge in a dish with ink poured on it should work nicely.

Again, I hope you feel better very soon.

Thank you Brenda. It appears the fluish fever and cough has passed by, now just the daily battle with Lyme which is not as predictable as the weather these days!!

If/when I try it I will post it here.

I look forward to seeing yours.

Teri

I hope you try it Teri. It was fun! Feel better!

This piece is really beautiful @junenez , similar to the style of pointillism!

Thanks! I might try again with a stamp pad to have more control. It was quite fun

Oh how fun! I’m so excited to see others’ work of the Getting Sketchys. Beautiful job (especially considering you didn’t have a pad, holy smokes). Love it! And loved your blue cows too, June.

Haha, I realised I already commented my love for your piece in the forum (I don’t come on here too often). But it was neat to see your cows on the Member’s Minute!

Teri, I don’t know if I’m going to get it done. I’ve had problems getting an eraser that behaves properly. Or maybe it’s user error!!! LOL

Brenda

Brenda,
have you tried just a regular ole #2 school pencil? That is what I am going to do. One that has never been used. That is if I ever get to it!!

Teri

Teri, I bought some really cheap #2 pencils at Hobby Lobby. They were bad about making just a black ring mostly. I’m still working on trying to find one that works well. Maybe I’ll work on it some more in the next few days.

I didn’t get to draw along tonight, because I was late signing in. I want to do that exercise, so maybe I’ll do a half marathon and do the eraser face and upside down drawing!

I finally got it done! Messed up the highlight in the eye but my white gel marker made it tolerable. I really enjoyed doing this one!
