Getting Fishy 11/5

Hi @HarleysMom

I’m always impressed by those who can draw along with Ashley (and Matt) and then post it here. You are an inspiration to many of us. Well done.

I hope to do mine tomorrow. Tonight I was outside taking photos for next years county fair of a “night sky”. The brightest moon of the year was taking place - called the “Beaver Supermoon” and I didn’t want to miss the opportunity.

Did you get to see it low to the horizon so it was huge? That’s my favorite. Unfortunately, it’s cloudy where I am so I missed it tonight but it was brilliant last night. Looking forward to seeing your grouchy bass, I know it will be amazing.

I love this. Great work of art

Here is my fish from Gettin Sketchy. Someone in the chat said it was a Peacock Bass, but I looked at images of some, and I think that is wrong. My guess is that it is a GROUPER as was what Matt and Ashley stated.

At 8x10, mine is larger than Ashley’s. And as I have often done in the past, I have spent a lot more time than the 45 minutes on mine, with the goal of making it a finished piece of artwork.

Mine is drawn on the dark blue paper. I started using the Stabilo - CarbOthello pastel pencils but ended up adding several Caran D’Ache pastel pencils as well.

Terri,

As always, it’s a wonderful piece of art. You made the grouper so endearing, what is he thinking? I used to keep cichlids and I was hoping he was an Oscar- they each had their own personality. This guy looks like he won’t take any guff from anyone but he’ll still be your grumpy friend.

Nice work and thanks for sharing. Looking forward to what you do with the moon!

Thanks for the kind words Lisa @HarleysMom

I won’t be drawing the moon (at least not for over a year) because I’m using it for a “night sky - photography” entry at the local fair this year. I do Photography, Scrapbooking, and Fine Arts.

That is an awesome moon image Terri. I have saved a copy of the image and hopefully will get a chance to draw it next week. Need to figure out the medium, probably colored pencils. I’ve been having fun with watercolor and line and wash, but the moon seems to want colored pencil. Hopefully I can post a drawing soon!

Hi @Melbe Thank you for the comment. My style of art is usually pretty detailed.

Hi Beth @OriNebula. I thought about you when I took that photo and posted it. Glad you saw it. Pastels might be an option for that one, or colored pencils as you mentioned. I look forward to seeing your drawing.

My fish based on Terri’s @robichon drawing as a reference. I am not too fond of canson miteintes so I was frustrated not being able to layer pastels the way I’m used to. Thank you Terri w 2 r for sharI f your wonderful art…

Hi Sonia @Meme5

This looks great and I really like the background. Glad my drawing helped you with this one. I can’t even tell from your post that it caused you trouble.
