I Wasn’t Sure If Someone Hadn’t Already Created A Topic For The Recent Live Class Which Started Last Night, However, I Decided To Start The Conversation. About To Start Working On The Line Drawing Myself.
Finished my drawing today. Ready with my grumbacher brushes and gouache. Who knows what will happen when I start applying paint?!
Looking forward to this project.
Brenda
That looks really good Brenda, I was able to do a very rough sketch of the reference, yours looks really detail which is really cool.
Can’t to see Ashley start the Gouache Wednesday.
Hi Brenda.
Congratulations on the successful completion of lesson one homework. I will be watching the lessons, but will have to do the painting from the recorded lessons in the future. I have too many other items I’m trying to get done for my local fair, just two weeks away.
Terri
I’m sort of the same way Terri, I wait for the recorded version to come out before following along. I really chatting in the comment section when it’s live.
So I just finished the second lesson of the live class, I might have gone a little too far with the background with the trees . Hope everyone is having a good time as well!
You did good. I can tell you have experience with gouache; I am a still a little terrified of fluid media, especially since I had never used gouache before, however, my watercolor fails helped me with this one, since it is “easier” to control. So I am very excited about this libe class!
Sonia
Thanks @Meme5, you did a good job as well. I have done some of the live classes with gouache from Matt and Ashley, which taught me a lot on the subject, it’s a good starter medium those who want to paint. I did finish a painting of the Matterhorn bobsleds at Disneyland with the cheaper W&N as a back layer, leading to me using designers W&N, which is so much better. I think it’s great medium, hope you enjoy it as well!
It’s kind of fun to do the impossible-Walt Disney.
What tiny spaces for painting with such tiny brushes!! Here’s my progress from the first night we painted. I’ll do lesson 3 when posted.
I made my stripes yellow rather than white. There are definite areas that could use adjustments. My perspective on the helmet is off. But this guy is the one I’m learning on. We’ll see what the center jockey looks like when I do him.
Great start, June! I’m anxious to put some paint on the horse! Giddy-up! We can do this!
Both versions are really good, I find it interesting you decided to stick with the original color of the strips as seen in the reference. I Do like it because it gives consistency to the horse man. I’m waiting on the video to follow Ashely, Keep up the good work.
You don’t need to be too worried, Maybe if you continue through it, it might be something worthy of putting on the wall.
I was able to complete some things from the homework of lesson 3 and 4, I would like to follow lesson 4 on painting the horse. Unfortunately I think I got food on the paper, but I’m not worried, the gouache will hopefully cover it up
Looks good, Samuel! I’ve decided to put mine away until I log a few more “easy” gouache projects. I will continue to watch the rest of this series, because I know I can learn things about gouache from Ashley and Matt by just listening and watching. Keep up the good work!
Brenda
Sounds good, there are lots of gouache lessons on the site, the last lesson on watercolor workshop, landscapes, and the still life that Ashley a few years ago.
Hello @Samuel
You are doing wonderful with the horse race. So far ahead and well done. I’m afraid I’ve fallen far behind but not quitting!
