He’s a gorgeous doggie…love Sable collies! Raised many as a child and they have such great personalities…He looks like a character in you drawing too Sys!

Just finished this one. I think I have forgotten to share that a local business owner have invited me to join a local faire. This upcomming Saturday there is a faire in the local mall, where local business owners can show there work. And I was invited to have a booth there my self. So excited. I have never shown my work in public before.

Great news @siffermus about your first opportunity to exhibit your work for the public to see - and well deserved. And this new cat drawing will be a wonderful addition to that exhibit

I don’t know how big your artwork is, if it’s framed or how many items you will exhibit but I found transporting several pieces of art to be one of the biggest challenges. My pieces were mostly 8x10 in an 11x14 frame. I used bankers boxes which were a size which I could carry and had the hand holding holes which also helped. I put my framed artwork back to back with a piece of foam core boards to separate those from next pair of back to back items - and repeated this process. I got my foam core at the dollar store for $1.25 each and could cut them in half for use in the bankers boxes so it was light weight and affordable. Hope you find this helpful.

Hi @siffermus, quite an honor to be selected to show your work! It would be fun to know what the cats are so intently looking at. Hopefully not a Coyote which we have in our neighborhood here in Spokane WA. Well done!

Just got back from the Oregon Coast fishing for salmon and Ling Cod. So many beautiful Pacific Ocean sunsets available like this one on Cannon Beach. After taking the Pastel Course and seeing how Matt did the sky scene example, I thought I would try to do this one from a photo I took with soft pastels.

Thanks Terri, this is very helpful I hope to have them framed. I have bought a lot of frames, and fingers crossed, they will arrive on time, so I can frame them.

@Zman

That is a lovely sunset, even more because it’s done with my all time favorite soft pastels.

Super, Jim!! You should send this piece in for a critique. Really great done!

Really draws you in Zman! (James)! Is this soft pastel or oil pastels? And did you use the tool we use to blend?
Great job!

Started a graphite pencil drawing this week. Stonehenge white cotton paper, and H, HB, 2H graphite pencils. It’s based on the class of basic pencil drawing of a high top shoe. Curves, contrast , shading, and texture.

Thanks Sonia :smiley:, using Matt’s instruction to define the repeating textures has been another game changer. So simple yet such a difference.

Hello Therese, yes, this is done with soft pastels. I used a charcoal pencil to add the small figure on the beach. I mostly use my finger to blend soft/dry pastels, but sometimes a Q-Tip. I have been using the silicone blenders on oil pastel projects Matt used on the recent live lesson he is doing. They work OK for me, but I’m not sold on them as they are a bit too flimsy for my liking.

Jim, there are for sure several brands of shapers that all come in different soft-/hardness. I was so dump to throw away an old set long ago that was less flimsy than the one I purchased now.

Thanks, Buddy. I will have to search for them, as the ones I got are too pliable to blend some of the harder oil pastels like Cray-Pas.
