Trevor @trevowen,
Color pencils are time consuming for sure! More layers would make a big difference in the color saturation of your drawing and more satisfying to complete. More layers could still be added if you wanted to, as well as use the colorless blender if after a few added layers, but all in all, it’s a great exercise for drawing pencils!

Hi Trevor @trevowen -
I agree the PastelMat paper is expensive, but there is nothing like it out there. Let us know after you have used it what you think about it. I’m sure you will also like the Rembrandt pastels. I have some of those too.
The comments from Sonia @Meme5 were very good. Listen to her, she is a star when it comes to pastels and colored pencils.

Hi all,
Been a bit since I e posted and am trying to get back into it. Love seeing everyone’s work. Currently I am obsessed with watercolor and Santa! This is Santa 3. Getting together with a friend today to do more! Happy holidays!
Hi June @junenez -
It makes me happy to know that watercolors are making you happy. Thanks for sharing Santa with us.

These are great. I’ve entertained the idea of creating my own but I never got around to it.
I love the bold lines.
That’s amazing!!! Mr Pretty Lips has great eyes, too!
I would have been running for a camera too. I love anything nature. Great capture and lovely drawing. Thanks for the drawing and the story.

@junenez ,
This WC Santa is beautiful! Amazing to see your love for watercolors growing!

Hi Everyone -
The forum says it’s been 16 days since I posted the last progress photo of Santa Dan. By the way, he was a high school buddy of my husband’s, and the friendship continued until Dan passed away from cancer in October 2019. Anyway, let me tell you, that shirt was incredibly difficult and took several full days of painting to complete. So happy that I can move on to the jeans.
This is 8x10 using colored ink on 300# hot press watercolor paper.

Terri @robichon,
Wow! , so mesmerizing. I love the way the paper works with the ink application and makes it look like real fabric! I totally love the story behind the picture, and the care you show in the drawing it so beautifully.

Hi Sonia @Meme5
What a great job of capturing the texture of the fur and the shiny smooth eye. And I also love your range of values. Keep posting and inspiring the rest of us to keep drawing whenever possible.

Hi Sonia @Meme5
Thanks for the kind words. Now let’s hope I can finish it without goofing it up. One never knows.
Terri
Trevor @trevowen,
I love the feeling of nostalgia it has about it! You should carry a sketchbook to do your beautiful sketches and drawings so it’s acid free paper so it won’t yellow over time. JS
Keep’em coming

Here’s today’s sketch of my Perfect in every way cat Smokey he was sleeping and the light was bothering him. he has three legs, so he really looks like something’s missing
Sonia @Meme5 , thank you so much that’s very kind. Maybe I should use better materials (I do have some) and will in time , but because I do most of my drawings on paper that would otherwise be thrown out , it gets me over the inhibition that I might not be satisfied with what I draw , because even if I’m not , it doesn’t matter. This way I get a few more done and feel I’m seeing progress. I think I’ll probably yellow quicker than my drawings anyway
