Most Recent Drawing or Painting

Hello, dear art community,

I am Lucy (originally from Slovakia, Europe) and this is my first post here :slight_smile:
I am a beginner, I tried some of the drawings and paintings following TVI including charcoal, color pencils, gouache, acrylic and pen and ink.

Although I just literally made an account here few minutes ago, I was following some of your art journeys and I know there are many great artists around here.

This is the last piece I tried (used gouache and polychromos color pencils, as thats what I have). It was the first time for me trying this combination and I think I liked it.
Happy to hear any suggestions or opinions, I am open and ready to improve :slight_smile:

PS: sorry for a longer intro, I just didnt want to drop a picture without any backround :wink:

Hello Lucy @Lucy

Thank you, Trevor (@trevowen) and Sonia (@Meme5) for such a nice welcome! :slight_smile: And for your kind words as well. :smiling_face:

I have never posted my drawings online before and decided this may be a good place to start. I am hoping to keep posting (well, especially hoping to keep creating :smiley: ). I made maybe around 20 paintings/drawings all together, some of them following TVI and some of them following random youtube videos.
I am not yet on the path like you guys, creating my own art, but it will come one day, I believe.

BTW, @Meme5 , your drawing of Chugs is gorgeous! I really like it.

Hi Lucy @Lucy

A big belated welcome to the Community here at the Virtual Instructor.

You did a great job with the tomatoes. Many of us (including me) did that lesson as well. Those seeds and highlights were a challenge, but you clearly succeeded.

Keep hanging out here and sharing your work and comments because I would love to get to know you better.

Hi Terri @robichon ,
thank you very much for such a sweet message! I checked the tomatoes you made, only using watercolor - unbelievable how you handled it! Later on, when I will try more watercolor paintings and I will still struggle, I will definitelly reach out for some tips and tricks :smiley: . It is more than clear you can handle that medium (and others too) on super high level!

Oh my, those berries!! They are gorgeous, @Meme5! All the creations here are so wonderful, it is a joy to come here and see what you all are up to. Santa Dan is great, @robichon, I can see the kindness in those eyes. @trevowen your drawings have a uniqueness to them, a style of your own and that’s so cool. Love the Marilyn piece. Welcome, Lucy- nice tomatoes!

What a lovely scene you have painted, Terri. Superb. Hope, Matt will critique it.

I just have overworked my water color painting I had been working on for quite some time. Well, another chance to practise.

I wish you all a very merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas to all my Virtual Instructor friends.

My husband and I are alone for Xmas this year and decided the gift we wanted most was to spend the day together working on our hobbies. Jim is getting close to finishing his ship (meaning maybe in about a month from now). I am working on a scratchboard drawing of Louie, my cat. Here it is after 2 days. I’m pretty excited about how it’s turning out so far. I’ll post again when it’s done.

Merry Christmas :christmas_tree: Terri! @robichon,

That is the kind of Holiday I enjoy most. At home in peace, enjoying each other’s company doing what each one of us enjoys the most plus munching around on goodies and baddies too. Haha.
Well, I got none of that, so while at a relative ‘s house in a little corner I sketched some. It’s my Smokey. It’s sketchy (not finished) but he’s always perfect even when grouchy, your Louie is super model material and looking great :+1:t3:

Merry Christmas to all! :grinning: :christmas_tree:

@robichon
Terri, I think it is amazing you guys have different hobbies but still able to enjoy it together! :heart: Your Louie is beautifuly done with all the little details. I am not surprised you are pretty excited about how it’s turning out, I am excited as well, and its not even my cat :smiley: I am looking forward to see the next post.

@Meme5
Sonia, Smokey is looking good! I love how you can just sit somewhere in a little corner (or wherever you can sit) and just sketch something that turns out so nice. It is great you have this power in you, just sit and draw, producing beautiful drawings. Keep doing your sketches, it is inspiring.

Have a great holiday!
Lucy

Every so often you see something here that just knocks you off balance! These are beautiful… everything is beautiful. Form, colors, textures, shading. I love it. Where is the finished project posted? (pears)
