It has been a while since I have posted anything. I have been working really detailed and loosened up so decided to play around with oil pastels.
My version is really different from Matts. I did not use the reference photo, but just followed along with Matt. This is what I came up with. It was really fun to work this way and really freeing.
This is such a beautiful piece! I love how you captured the open, airy feeling of the fields; it really does feel like a place I’d want to wander through and explore. I admire that you followed along without the reference and allowed yourself to just enjoy the process. It definitely shows in the freedom and movement of the piece. Isn’t it amazing how loosening up can bring a fresh energy to our work? Great job, I hope you keep playing with oil pastels!
I am so happy that you posted this lovely scenery and totally agree with @Jessica. What about a stroll all together with a yummy picnique with bread, some cheese and fresh water?
Loosen up is always a great practise, especially after having worked on detailed pieces for quite some time.
Since I haven’t worked with oil pastels yet, what are your experiences so far with this medium?
Jessica, I do plan to continue working with the oil pastels for a season. I really enjoy pastels and it was time again to dive in.
I have a lot to learn still but look forward to the journey.
Samuel, I too enjoy landscapes. May be one of my favorite subjects along with birds and other animals and architecture which I find fascinating but do a terrible job at.
Buddy, Yes, we should all explore this fields and the mountains in the background too. Pick flowers, and enjoy bread, cheese and ice water.
Denise, you are such a special supportive erson to all of us. thank you again for your encouragement.
