Pen and Ink drawings

Thank you so much, Terri! It’s wonderful to see you here. I so understand how life can be, though. I hope you and yours are enjoying beautiful fall days. We’re about to have our first wintry weather, dipping close to freezing temps. I’m loving it!

My day 31 for Inktober 2023!!! I made it!

These are gallardia blossoms. They are also known by the common names of Indian blanket and FIREwheel. Ink, ink wash, and watercolor wash in background.

Done! Had so much fun with this challenge. Impressed that Brenda and I stuck with it. Phew! I will be glad to pick up something besides a pen later!

I love that June! I started the last Gettin Sketchy drawing last night. I got too sleepy to finish. I hope to finish it tonight.

I’m so proud of us!!!

Thank you, Terri! I’m hoping I can continue to do at least one drawing a day. I found through October, that the more I did, the more I wanted to do. It was a challenge, but I loved it!

I decided the firewheels needed more contrast. I did cross hatching to darken the background.

This definitely makes the flowers stand out more

Thanks Jane. The solution for doing this came to me in the middle of the night. CROSSHATCHING! That’ll do it. :star_struck:

lol. Funny where the best ideas come from. I usually do my best thinking in the shower.

Thank you, Lenet! How’s the portrait coming along?

Hello Brenda,

It’s coming slowly, but coming out good so far. I decided to try the Pastel Mat paper. What a difference. But it really takes a lot of layers to cover. I’m in Mississippi and have been for a week tying to get my new homestead set up. Still trying to work on it some each day, but not like my regular routine. Here is where I am. WIP!

Thank you for sharing your WIP, Lenet. It’s looking great! I will be eager to see your progress. The skin tones and facial features look really good. Layer, layer, and layer some more. Any time I’ve used Pastelmat and colored pencils, together I’m always amazed at the layers required to fill or almost fill the tooth. Awesome that you took it to Mississippi with you! Keep up the good work.

Wow - that is an amazing art piece. Can’t wait to see it finished!

It was so much fun! NExt year maybe you can join in? It really reminded me how much I love working with pen and ink. And that I do like doing some “silly” art sometimes. Also - it doesn’t have to be perfect!
