Portrait of Mr. S

This is mixed media (graphite, white charcoal, and pastel) on Strathmore tan toned mixed media paper, 9x12. I am trying to loosen up, but I am still having anxiety over not being photographically perfect. LOL! Such a hypocrite!

There is a glare on the left of the photo. I don’t know why that matters to me…

The Glare is where the light is coming from. This is beautiful. I love it.

Very lively painting. The expression of the eyes is simply brilliant. Love the skin texture too.

It looks absolutely marvellous to me. People are one of the things I avoid if possible drawing. Well done.

It is better than a photograph! The beard and folds in the fabric are amazing!

Are you talking about a photograph of the subject? It looks like a 2ndary light source, which could possibly be a little darker if you were to ask me. Maybe darken it just a little. That is what I would do to help make it not look like a glare on his head. It looks more like it is the stronger of the light source. I would shade the person with the light source on the front of his face. You’ve done a great job and the T-shirt looks as if you could reach up and touch it. So soft looking. Great job for someone who is working on a portrait. You must know the man well.
